About This Event
SARASOTA, Fla. — A kosher concession stand is coming to Camden Yards. The Orioles on Monday announced the opening of the “Birdland Kosher” stand at Camden Yards for this season. The stand will serve kosher-certified food, including hot dogs, chicken nuggets, soft pretzels, hot pastrami sandwiches on rye bread, potato knish and chocolate chip cookies. The stand will be located around section 83 on the main concourse near gates E and F. It will be open for all games except Fridays, Saturdays and Yom Kippur (Sept. 20-21). Star-K, a Baltimore-based kosher certification agency, has certified the stand. “Birdland Kosher” is one of many changes fans can expect at Oriole Park this season. The biggest change is a new and larger video board in center field. The previous scoreboard, the same one that debuted with the ballpark in 1992, was one of the smallest in Major League Baseball. The new one is 2 1/2 times larger than the previous screen and will rank 15th out of 30 MLB teams. The much-maligned sound system has also been overhauled to improve the sound quality and volume throughout the ballpark. The ballclub also added several premium spaces, including turning the press box behind home plate into an exclusive area designed to attract wealthy fans. The new press box will be down the third base line. The renovations are funded through a $1.2 billion law passed by the Maryland General Assembly in 2022, which gave $600 million in the form of bonds for upgrades to both Camden Yards and the Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium. The state says the bonds will be repaid using state lottery revenue. Have a news tip? Contact Jacob Calvin Meyer at jameyer@baltsun.com , 410-332-6200 and x.com/JCalvinMeyer .
