Chadol Korean BBQ opens, bringing elevated Korean food to Columbia

Chadol Korean BBQ held its grand opening in Columbia last week, launching its third restaurant and bringing premium meats and all-you-can-eat options to Howard County. The restaurant is located at 5325 Village Center Drive in Wilde Lake Village Center, a building that previously housed The Melting Pot before its abrupt closure in early 2020 . “We’re thrilled to announce our newest location,” the Chadol Korean BBQ said on its website . “Following the success of our Rockville and Washington, D.C., locations, we’re bringing the same elevated Korean BBQ experience to the Columbia community.” The Columbia restaurant is owned by Jong Han, who also operates the company’s other locations. The Columbia site will mirror the existing restaurants while leaving room for local touches, according to the company’s website. (Marissa Yelenik/Staff) Dorj Batgerel, manager of the Columbia restaurant, said the menu and service closely resemble the Rockville site, with a la carte options, a 90-minute all-you-can-eat service and menu items such as brisket, bulgogi, pork belly, chicken, seafood and traditional Korean sides. However, the Columbia restaurant does not include a conveyor belt, like the Washington location does. “We’re still trying to figure out the whole restaurant right now,” Batgerel said. “Every day we’re adding new stuff.” Chadol sets itself apart from other Korean barbecue restaurants with high-quality meat at comparatively lower prices, Batgerel said.
